Formerly known as PT PLN Tarakan, the company was established in 2003 and operated as an integrated electricity provider and distributor on Tarakan Island until 2016.

Since 2016, PLN Nusa Daya has continued to grow into a trusted company within the PLN Group ecosystem. Its operational areas now cover the Central and Eastern regions of Indonesia, including Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua, with its head office located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. In 2023, the company officially rebranded as PT PLN Nusa Daya as part of a broader identity transformation and strategic effort to strengthen its position in supporting PLN Group’s sustainable business goals. The company focuses on providing operation and maintenance services for power generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as customer services and energy efficiency programs to support the achievement of the Net Zero Emission target.
